Hello Everyone, and welcome to week five, yes week five of the social media series Seven Disciplines of Intentional Living.  It’s hard to believe we are over the half-way mark.  This has been such an incredible journey coming to you live providing insight and inspiration in how to have a balanced and intentional life.  It’s my desire to pour out and into you!

There are seven areas to wellness.  So far, we have covered: Occupation and Finances, Emotional, Spiritual, and Intellectual.  Today we will discuss Physical Wellness.  Then the remaining areas are: Cultural and Social, as well as Environmental.

Physical Wellness involves moving your bodies such as exercise.  It also means eating well balanced nutritional meals.  Additionally, physical wellness means getting proper sleep, managing stress, and implementing self-care techniques.  Finally, receiving preventative medical and dental care as well as sexual health screenings when you become sexually active is just as important to our overall wellbeing.  All these things help to create and maintain a healthy body.

Please be mindful, there are many things that could get in the way of achieving physical wellness.  I personally have experienced intimate partner violence.  In this turbulent relationship, I experienced physical abuse.  This caused me to have many sleepless nights, stress, poor eating habits, and health issues such as irritable bowl syndrome.  I can attest, that all seven areas were negatively affected.  Eventually, I got sick and tired or being sick and tired.  This is how change can occur.  A person gets tired of the same results leading to nowhere.  Once I removed myself from that relationship, I began to be focused, intentional, and thriving.  After my personal experience with domestic violence, I wanted to make it my mission to bring awareness on how to examine every area of our lives in order to heal from traumatic experiences.

To discover ways, you can achieve Physical Wellness, evaluate your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.  By doing a personal and professional SWOT Analysis, it will help you gain clarity in these four areas so you can develop strategies to move your Weaknesses and Threats into the Strengths and Opportunity areas.  You can go to my website www.inspirationallyspeaking.com and click on my blog, GUMBO, which stands for Greatness Unbounded Moving Beyond Ordinary.  From there you will be able to download the SWOT Matrix.

In order to assess your motivation to change, ask yourself:

  1. What resources do you need to gain Physical Wellness?
  2. What are your peers doing in this area?
  3. What strengths are unique to you?
  4. What threats does your weaknesses expose you to?
  5. How committed are you to putting a plan in place to achieve Physical Wellness?

For me personally, my motivation was not only my health, but my desire to be consistent.  If I am going to talk it, then I need to walk it.  At the beginning of this year, I purchased a Fitbit, a multi-strength-based workout bench, and an elliptical stepper.

We all have the potential to have a Get F.I.T. Mindset.  It is my prayer that you have gained insight and empowerment to live life on purpose.  It’s time to break the cycle of settling and being in our comfort zone!  It’s time to tell guilt and shame to take a hike!  It’s time for you to say yes to your dreams, goals, and passion!

Repeat after me.  I deserve to have a Get F.I.T. Mindset.  Because when I am focused, I have the clarity to see past any obstacles and barriers.  I deserve to have a Get F.I.T. Mindset.  Because when I am intentional, I can strategically align with people, places, and things that foster my growth.  I deserve to have a Get F.I.T. Mindset.  Because when I am thriving, every relationship I have will benefit.
